The City Hall Employees Mulit-purpose Cooperative (CHEMCO), formarly the City Hal Employees Credit Union (CHECU). was founded by MR. GREGORIO A. GALINATO SR,. an employee of the City Veterinary Office in 1971, during the Incumbency of then City Mayor Jesus V. Serniña Sr.
MR. GREGORIO A. GALINATO SR,. joined the Cagayan de Oro workforce during incumbency
of Cagayan de Misamis Municipal Mayor Julio V. Pacana in 1973 and untiringly continued
in public service even after his retirement on December 1976.
After his retirement in the Government service, he was appointed as barangay secretary
and treasurer of Barangay Nazareth under Barangay Captain Ramon A. Yap, until he was elected
as Barangay Captain on January 1982.
In 1989 Barangay Elections, Mr. Gregorio Galinato, Sr. was elected Barangay
Kagawad of Nazareth under Barangay Captain Nicomedes Chaves and served until
May 31, 1997. At the age of 86, he still served in various capacities in the Barangay
Government of Nazareth as Barangay Administrator among others under the administration
of Punong Barangay Hon. Ian Mark Q. Nacaya,
While in his hectic life in the public service, Mr. Galinato aslo served in different social-civic organizations.
